AFGE LOCAL 777
STEWARDS

Chief Steward
Don Wells
I don’t recall the year but it was when AFGE became our
Union. I have been a Shop Steward now for 6 years in MLI, Downstate Rep. for 2 years, and Currently Serving the Downstate of Illinois as Chief Steward for the Local. What is it about the Union that brought me to serve in my current position is the ability to represent the entire downstate of the Illinois hub. Giving the members a voice, and communications link to the leadership of our Local. Mostly; to help protect the Downstate membership from unjust punishments with the knowledge gained from a direct link to AFGE and our Local. I expect to get from being a member of the Union are protections from unjust actions from TSA Management. I expect leadership, support, empathy from the Union. I am in the hopes that the Union will be in my corner when needed to be able to provide me with help and guidance in my time of need.

My personal experiences and observations of workplace issues further motivated me to take on this role and work towards positive change. Serving as a union steward allows me to make a tangible difference in the lives of my coworkers and contribute to a more equitable and harmonious work environment.
